Ascension To The Throne !!BETTER!!

Born in 69 BC, Cleopatra rose to the throne after the death of her father, Ptolemy XII, the Egyptian pharaoh at that time. She was only 18 years old then and she first ruled Egypt together with her brother Ptolemy XIII (Roller 4). As soon the siblings ascended to the throne, Ptolemy XIII connived with his advisors to remove Cleopatra from power.

Ascension to the Throne

Caesar then restored Cleopatra as the rightful heir to the throne (Tyldesley 97). The relationship between Cleopatra and Julius Caesar flourished and together they bore a son whom they named Caesarion. After the assassination of Caesar on the 15th of March, 44 BC, Cleopatra named Caesarion as her successor.

This post focuses on the enthronement of Christ at the right hand of the Father. It reflects on the readings for the Solemnity of the Ascension, cycle B (Acts 1:1-11; Psalm 47; Ephesians 1:17-23 or Eph 4:1-13, Mark 16:15-20). However, it is also appropriate for years A & C since the only change in the readings is the gospel. Year A the gospel is taken from Mat. 28:16-20 and year C from Lk. 24:46-53.

The US Army 65th Tactical Surface Fighter Instructional Squadron is thought by many to be the premier OpFor Aggressor unit within the United States. Equipped with the F-15E Strike Eagle, the squadron is often referred to as the "Flankers", due to the squadron painting their TSFs with the same colors of their Soviet adversaries. And for years they are feared as the "Strongest enemy" for any squadron who are training against them.Today it seems as though a new challenger has come to claim the throne from the undefeated Eagles.

The ascension to the throne happens automatically under a centuries-old common law rule that recognizes that, when an individual sovereign dies, the government must carry on without interruption, according to University College London's Constitution Unit.

Ceremonies like the coronation are not technically required for the heir to the throne to become the new British monarch, UCL's Constitution Unit says. King Edward VIII, for example, ruled without ever being formally crowned.

The timing is determined following the death of a sitting monarch, and there's no rush. Queen Elizabeth II's coronation wasn't until June 1953, more than a year after she ascended to the throne in February 1952.

For our ongoing series of feature articles by scholars for pastors, leaders, and teachers, we asked Gerrit Scott Dawson, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to explain why the ascension of Jesus matters. You can also download and print a PDF of the article.

The ascension establishes how we are to know Jesus right now. As we noted, the ascension of the physical, historical Jesus removes him from our immediate grasp. We cannot simply go and find Jesus somewhere. And yet, it is the same Jesus who was here who has gone to heaven; he is still himself, still enfleshed as God and man. Paradoxically, this withdrawal of Christ from immediate contact with us on earth actually makes his history among us crucial to our present relating. His ascension directs us to the Jesus of Scripture as the way we meet him right now! Thomas Torrance asserts that

by withdrawing himself from our sight, Christ sends us back to the historical Jesus Christ as the covenanted place on earth and in time which God has appointed for meeting between man and himself. The ascension means that our relation to the Saviour is only possible through the historical Jesus, . . . the Jesus whom we meet and hear through the witness of the Gospels.4

We rely on the illuminating work of the Holy Spirit, the rule of truth that is the apostolic witness, and the faithful community of believers as we quest into the word for the ascended Christ. The one whom we meet in study and worship is Jesus himself! We quest back to the place where he was when people could see him, back to the words he spoke when people could hear his voice. The kingly gift of the Spirit right now brings Jesus to us from heaven through the Scriptures. Through means of word and sacrament, prayer and praise, the Holy Spirit presents the historical, ascended, and still coming Jesus to us freshly in every present moment. So, far from separating us from Jesus, the ascension makes the historical, yet living, Jesus, the man in whose face the light of the glory of God shone (2 Corinthians 4:6), our perennial meeting place with God.

We who are passengers in Christ receive passports from our new homeland. We are not natives of heaven, but taken into Christ, we share citizenship with him. Adopted into Christ Jesus, we share his sonship. The ascension of Jesus means his continuing incarnation, which, in turn, guarantees our eternal union and communion with him in the triune life.

As Saudis celebrate the anniversary of his ascension and their pledging of allegiance to him, the Kingdom is tirelessly making strides in development and prosperity in various fields in line with its Vision 2030.

In a ceremony called "Kenji to Shokei no gi" held earlier in the morning, the 59-year-old emperor, dressed in a formal black suit, inherited the imperial regalia as proof of his ascension to the throne.

Charles was accompanied at the ceremony by his wife Camilla, the Queen Consort, and his eldest son Prince William. William is now heir to the throne and is now known by the title that Charles long held, Prince of Wales.

Two days after the 96-year-old queen died at Balmoral Castle in Scotland following an unprecedented 70 years on the throne, people still came by the thousands to pay their respects outside Buckingham Palace in London. The scene was repeated at other royal residences across the U.K. and at British embassies around the world.

Naruhito officially began his reign on the Chrysanthemum Throne in May, when his 85-year-old father, Emperor Emeritus Akihito, officially abdicated after four decades, citing failing health. Akihito, who succeeded his father, World War Two-era Emperor Hirohito, was the first Japanese emperor to abdicate the throne in 200 years.

Following the abdication, Beatrix, King Willem-Alexander, and his wife, Queen Máxima Zorreguieta, greeted the crowd on the palace's balcony. "Several moments ago I renounced the throne. I am happy and thankful to present to you your new king, Willem-Alexander," Beatrix said. 041b061a72
